Did you know?

Of the 21,400,000+ cartons of Washington State apples exported through March 2010;

·         43.59% are Red Delicious, 21.69% are Gala, 10.24% are Fuji, 9.43% are Granny Smith, 9.06% are Golden Delicious and 5.98% are ‘other’ varieties.

·         Mexico accounts for 64.7% of all Golden Delicious exported from Washington.

·         Taiwan accounts for 77.8% of all Fuji’s exported.

·         India is on target to import over 2 million cartons of Washington apples this year – and 95% are Red Delicious.

·         Our industry is on track to export 35 million cartons again this season – equaling the record volume of 2008-09 with 6 million fewer total cartons.

·         Year-to-date Peru is up 39.9%, Egypt +27.6%, India +47.7%, China +45.8%, Hong Kong +30.3% and Russia +32.9%.

·         Year-to-date China/Hong Kong is our 4th largest export market behind Mexico, Canada and Taiwan – and it could surpass Taiwan before year end.

·         Russia has imported 17 varieties of Washington apples this season.
