Precious water
As a long-time subscriber to the Good Fruit Grower, I continue to be disappointed by the irrigation issue every year. In contrast to other grower interests, the irrigation section is filled with vague generalities.
I am a grower in Israel where every drop of water is measured and needs to be justified because of the cost.
If I might make a constructive suggestion, for your next irrigation issue, you might do a survey of standard irrigation practices in your area. The wide range of accepted practices might surprise you and may help point up the need for serious research in this area.
