Other teaching programs
Washington State has several educational options for students interested in viticulture and enology. A four-year degree is offered at Washington State University, but three community colleges also offer wine grape education.
Walla Walla Community College – Institute for Enology and Viticulture
• Two-year program, graduating students earn a viticulture science/fermentation science certificate and can earn an associate’s degree in enology and viticulture
• Daytime classes offered
• Facilities include teaching vineyard and teaching winery
Yakima Valley Community College – Vineyard and Winery Technology Program
• Two-year program, graduating students earn certificate for vineyard or winery focus and can earn an associate’s degree
• Evening classes offered
• Facilities include teaching vineyard and teaching winery
South Seattle Community College – Northwest Wine Academy, Wine Technology Program
• Two-year program, graduating students earn certificate in winemaking, wine marketing and sales, or food and wine pairing, and can earn an associate’s degree
• Wine Academy complements the college’s Culinary Arts program
• Day and night classes offered
• Facilities include teaching winery
