Winery Wise

Washington State will help fund a sustainability guide for wineries.

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation has received $128,250 from the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Block Grant program to create a Guide to Sustainable Winery Practices.

Dubbed “Winery Wise,” it will be a free Web-based educational tool for wineries seeking to improve their sustainability. It is patterned after Vinewise, a guide to sustainable viticulture operated by the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers. A group of volunteer wineries will measure their changes in energy and water consumption over the course of a year while implementing Winery Wise and their data will be used as real life examples.
