Commission hires international interns
Geraldine Warner
The Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission regularly hires international students to work on its research projects. The interns are recruited through an agricultural internship program operated by Ohio State University and also through Experience International in Seattle, Washington.
All have earned at least bachelor's degree in horticulture or agriculture and most have master's degrees. They stay for between six and 12 months and plan to continue working in agriculture when they return to their home countries.
Current interns, pictured during a cherry tour in Washington, are (from left): Roberto Loredo from Mexico; Paulina Waracka from Poland; Gabriella Puskas from Hungary; Magda Rybitwa from Poland; Frauke Hoppe from Germany; Jacqui Gordon from Ecuador; and Sugem Gameros from Mexico.

Programs like this one are a great way to teach foreign nationals about our culture and values and our style of management and work.
