Bob McDougall 1924-2012

McDougall had a 60-year career in the tree fruit industry. He grew up working in orchards in the Cashmere Valley and graduated from Cashmere High School before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Afterwards, he earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Washington State University.

He formed McDougall Orchards, Inc., in 1960 then served for 12 years, first as a representative and then as a senator, in the Washington State legislature. In 1977, he joined with his sons Stuart and Scott to form McDougall and Sons, Inc., in Wenatchee, and was company president until his retirement in 1998.  He was one of the four founding members of Columbia Marketing International (CMI), which was established in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Doris McDougall, and sons Douglas, Stuart, and Scott McDougall.

A celebration of his life will be held on February 24, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club in East Wenatchee.
