Cavalieri appointed to alternative energy position at WSU
Dr. Ralph Cavalieri, director of Washington State University’s Agricultural Research Center, has been appointed as the university’s associate vice president for alternative energy.
In his new position, Cavalieri will oversee WSU’s interactions in areas pertaining to the production and use of biofuels and alternative sources of energy, according to information from Dr. Dan Bernardo, dean of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences. Cavalieri also served as associate dean for research in the CAHNS and professor of biological systems engineering. He received his doctorate in chemical engineering from WSU in 1985.
Bernardo said the university is launching a national search for a new director of the ARC. Until a successor is appointed, Cavalieri will devote about 20 percent of his time to helping with budget oversight and fiscal management of the ARC. Dr. Mike Kahn, associate director of the ARC, will handle day-to-day operations.
