Good Fruit Grower, the essential resource for tree fruit and grape producers, is seeking an exceptional individual to lead design and production for print and online platforms.
Located in the scenic heartland of a tree fruit and wine grape region, Good Fruit Grower is recognized for outstanding presentation of in-depth articles on growing practices and research. Content is distributed in print to 50 states and 50 countries to nearly 12,000 readers and in digital form on a web site and other platforms.
The Design and Production Manager participates in planning meetings, selects images, copyedits articles, assembles ads, text and images into a production-ready document, designs pages for print and marketing collateral, manages workflow, and oversees printing of 17 issues annually. The manager collaborates with a graphic designer, a Digital Producer, and colleagues in advertising, circulation, and editors located in three bureaus.
The position calls for an individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, infuses creativity in his/her work, sweats details, and brings absolute dedication to the magazine’s mission of service to growers.
This position reports to the Managing Editor.
A qualified candidate must have:
–Demonstrated adherence to journalistic values such as accuracy and fairness.
–A minimum of 3 years experience doing multipage publication design, prepress workflow management, and production using InDesign and related production tools.
–Demonstrated success designing and integrating print and online content, serving editorial, advertising and marketing goals.
–Experience managing a publication’s relationship with printer company.
–Proficiency with latest Adobe software, preflight programs, and Macintosh OS.
–Ability to manage other designers.
–A sense of humor.
–Knowledge of the tree fruit and wine grape industries.
–Experience recognizing and developing new revenue sources for print or online platforms.
–Experience designing and editing web pages on WordPress.
