Clearwest Agricultural Weather Service is offering free frost forecasts for Washington’s Yakima Valley and Columbia Basin districts. Forecasts for the Wenatchee and Okanogan districts will begin on March 30.

Clearwest provides two forecasts per day. The morning forecast is issued by 10 a.m. and gives a complete forecast of weather, including maximum temperatures, minimum temperatures, and wind conditions for the next five days. The evening forecast is issued by 7 p.m. and provides key station minimum temperature forecasts and protection information for the coming night, as well as a general forecast of minimum temperatures expected for the next four nights.

The forecasts are available on the Clearwest Web site and via a toll-free phone service at (855) 982-1501. This is a different telephone number from the one used for the past several years, Clearwest meteorologist Jim Holcomb points out. Forecasts will continue daily through May 31.
