Phyllis Gleasman, an orchardist at Manson, Washington, has been appointed by Washington Governor Christine Gregoire to Wenatchee Valley College’s board of trustees for a five-year term.

Gleasman has 30 years of experience in the tree fruit industry. She farms 50 acres of orchard and is responsible for implementing the food safety program at Chelan Fruit Cooperative.

She is a former board member of the Washington Growers Clearing House Association and was chair of the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation in 2004. She is a graduate of the foundation’s leadership program and a certified SQF (Safe Quality Food) practitioner.

She has been a board member of the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, is a commissioner for the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Foundation, and is a founding board member of the Catalina Medical Clinic in Tucson, Arizona.
