The Washington State Tree Fruit Association and the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission will host cleaning and sanitation workshops on May 31 in Naches, Washington, and on June 1 in East Wenatchee, Washington.

Topics will include: An overview of listeria monocytogenes risk and the importance of cleaning and sanitation, Types of sanitizers and the use of ozone; A hands-on demonstration of effective cleaning and sanitation practices, including identifying areas of risk in a facility, and how to handle challenging areas like drains, sorting tables, belts and dump tanks.

The Naches workshop will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 31 at Allan Bros. Fruit and Cleman’s View Sports Park Clubhouse at 8894 U.S. Highway 12 near Naches.

The East Wenatchee workshop will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McDougall and Sons at 5905 Nelpar Drive in East Wenatchee.

Register at www.wstfa.org. The registration fee of $30 includes certificate of attendance, lunch and refreshments and is limited to two people per company.
