Auction of Washington Wines announced in a news release a series of seven virtual taste-along events to be held between June 18 and Aug. 20. The series will feature AWW’s honorary chair, Karen MacNeil, and 21 prominent Washington vintners.

“The current stay-at-home world has provided a unique and exciting window of opportunity for this series to come to fruition,” said Auction of Washington Wines Executive Director Jamie Peha, in the release. “Karen MacNeil is an incredible host — and this series will introduce and connect wine lovers to the state’s industry.”

MacNeil, author of the award-winning book, “The Wine Bible,” will taste through a selection of wines in each session. The series’ dates and topics include:

—June 18: Washington Wine Trailblazers

—July 2: From Generation to Generation

—July 16: Washington Women in Wine

—July 30: Red Mountain and Bordeaux Style Wine

—Aug. 6: World-Class Washington State Merlot

—Aug. 13: Is Cab King in Washington?

—Aug. 20: One-of-a-Kind Approaches to Washington Wine

The series will be offered at no cost and will take place on the Zoom platform. Participants can click here to register online and will receive a reminder prior to each virtual tasting.

Wines for each tasting can be prepurchased through AWW’s retail partner, Esquin Wine & Spirits in Seattle (https://madwine.com/1671-virtual-tasting-series). Wines will be available for curbside pickup or can be shipped to a home address.

“There are so many stories surrounding the Washington wine world,” said MacNeil. “I am very much looking forward to talking with the state’s prominent winemakers, all while tasting some of the finest wines Washington state has to offer.”
