The Good Fruit Grower magazine seeks an energetic team player to coordinate content for its online, Spanish-language edition, Good Fruit Grower en Español.
Publishing 17 times a year, Good Fruit Grower is a resource for news and educational information to commercial growers of tree fruit, grapes and blueberries. Its digital Spanish edition, updated weekly at goodfruit.com/es, serves an essential industry need to educate both growers and workers about topics ranging from horticultural techniques and new technologies to regulatory requirements and safety protocols. We are committed to improving service by building a team that reflects the community it serves.
The Content Coordinator will translate existing English-language articles and columns, as well as write original content, and will assist as needed with production of Spanish-language videos as a translator, transcriber, editor or proofreader. In a typical month, this person would be expected to, at a minimum, translate and/or write four articles, post them to the website and manage comments there, and produce a monthly e-mail newsletter promoting the most recent content.
The successful candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, with verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish. (Biliterate certification preferred.) A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as journalism or communications, is desirable, though a bilingual candidate with strong writing skills and horticultural experience will be considered.
Additional required skills:
—Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills. The Content Coordinator will collaborate with editorial staff, as well as a team of industry experts, to ensure high-quality content that meets the magazine’s mission of education.
—Strong attention to detail.
—An organized work style and ability to prioritize projects and manage time accordingly.
—Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, SEO and analytics a plus.
Established in 1946, Good Fruit Grower is based in Yakima, Washington, an affordable, agricultural hub that is known for its proximity to the mountains (an hour’s drive to world-class skiing, hiking and mountain climbing), national parks, and easy access to Seattle, Portland, Ore., and other West Coast attractions.
Ideally, the successful candidate will reside in Yakima or another Central Washington community. Remote work will be considered for candidates with a proven ability to self-motivate and self-manage. This position requires a person who can be flexible with workflow, but we’re also flexible with scheduling work hours.
Authorization to work in the United States is required.
The salary range for this part-time position (up to 20 hours per week) is $26‑$32 per hour, depending on experience. The position is eligible for benefits.
