Pear Committee Nominations

Pear growers will elect nominees for positions on the Fresh Pear Committee (FPC) of Marketing Order #927. The committee is responsible for setting the assessment rates for research and promotion and advertising of all pears marketed in the domestic and export markets.
There is a Grower FPC position for the Yakima district to be filled at the WSTFA Annual Meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2020 via Zoom. The Handler Member position is currently held by Jorge Arias, 1st Alternate is vacant, and 2nd Alternate is John Onstad. Mr. Arias can be re-elected, since he has served 1 out of a possible 3 consecutive terms. All pear handlers are eligible to attend and participate in the respective nominations. The nominees must be a handler, or an officer or employee of a corporate or LLC handler, who handles pears within the Yakima district. The committee encourages women, minorities, and the physically challenged, who qualify as pear growers/handlers, to attend and participate in the nomination proceedings. Names of those elected will be submitted to the Secretary of Agriculture for official appointment to the committee, and will serve for a two-year period.
