PEAR COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS

Pear growers will elect nominees for positions on the Fresh Pear Committee (FPC) of Marketing Order #927. The committee is responsible for setting the assessment rates for research and promotion and advertising of all pears marketed in the domestic and export markets.
There is a Grower FPC position for the Yakima district to be filled at the nomination meeting at 10 a.m. on May 25, 2021 via conference call. The handler member position is currently held by Jorge Arias, first alternate is vacant, and second alternate is John Onstad. All pear handlers are eligible to attend and participate in the respective nominations. The nominees must be a handler, or an officer or employee of a corporate or LLC handler, who handles pears within the Yakima district. The committee encourages women, minorities and the physically challenged, who qualify as pear growers/handlers, to attend and participate in the nomination proceedings. Names of those elected will be submitted to the Secretary of Agriculture for official appointment to the committee and will serve for a two-year period.
