Elections for a Wenatchee District member and two alternates to the Fresh Pear Committee (FPC) of Marketing Order #927 are scheduled at 10 a.m. during Pear Day in Wenatchee on Jan. 20, 2022. The meeting will be held at the Wenatchee Convention Center 121 N Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee WA with a zoom component encouraged by the organizers due to Covid. Only fresh pear growers from the Wenatchee District are eligible to vote in this election. The positions to be filled include: Kevin Stennes — Member, Daryl Harnden — 1st Alternate, and Matt McDevitt — 2nd Alternate.

The member position’s second consecutive term is expiring on June 30, 2022 and all (member and alternates) are eligible for another term. Names of those elected will be submitted to the United States Secretary of Agriculture for official appointment to the committee, and will serve for a two-year term.

Among other duties, The Fresh Pear Committee is responsible for setting the assessment rates for research and promotion and advertising of all pears marketed in the domestic and export markets.

The committee encourages eligible women, minorities, and the physically challenged, who qualify as pear growers, to attend and participate in the nomination proceedings.
