Pear committee nominations election meeting

Pear growers will elect nominees for a position on the Fresh Pear Committee (FPC) of Marketing Order No. 927. The committee is responsible for the collection of assessments for research and the promotion and advertising of all pears marketed in the domestic and export markets.
There is one grower FPC position for the Medford District to be filled at an election meeting at 9 a.m. on May 9 at the Naumes, Inc. office, located at 2 W Barnett St. in Medford, Oregon.
The grower member position is cu rrently held by Matt Borman, first alternate is Sean Naumes, and second alternate is Scott Martinez. The member and alternates can’t be re-elected because they will be serving the committee in another capacity. This is a midterm election to fill the positions for one year, ending June 30, 2020.
All pear growers are eligible to attend and participate in the nominations. The committee encourages women, minorities, and the physically challenged, who qualify as pear growers/handlers, to attend and participate in the nomination proceedings. Names of those elected will be submitted to the Secretary of Agriculture for official appointment to the committee.
