Amy Botha of South Africa snapped this picture of her nine-month-old son Jesse James, who was evidently fascinated by the artwork on the cover of the August Good Fruit Grower.

She captured the moment with her cell phone while they were visiting Jesse’s grandfather Buks Nel, who is a new cultivar development consultant with Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing (PTY), Ltd., in the Cape apple and pear growing region of South Africa. Nel has been a technical advisor in the fruit industry his entire career.

Jesse, who has already developed a taste for Packham pears and Golden Delicious apples, lives with his parents, Amy and Jacques Botha, on the Makgadikgadi salt pan in Botswana. “This means a very simple life, which suits us all fine,” Amy wrote. “Jesse enjoys sitting in the garden listening and watching birds and ‘botanizing.’ He is very chilled indeed, just a happy little rural chap with a good sense of humor and lots of life.”
