Dear Good Fruit Grower:

I read with interest the article about carbon credits ("Carbon credits require proof," February 15, 2009, Good Fruit Grower:). It was a great primer on the upcoming trading of carbon credits pushed by the Eco-Elites. They are the same ones that pushed ethanol and raised the price of basic commodities for the poor in Central and South America beyond their ability to pay.

I was alarmed by the following statement of fact: "…members were emphatically reminded that there was to be no debate of whether or not human activities were causing irreversible climate change. The answer was yes, and the discussion was over."

I Googled this statement and came up with 1.3 million different opinions. Thank God we still live in a free country where a diversity of opinion is still allowed. The same scientists in the 1950s–1960s said that we were headed for an irreversible global ice age caused by man! They even got their statements into the 1960s history and government books.

If you have an open mind, find this book and read it: Global Warming and Other Eco Myths: How the Environmental Movement Uses False Science to Scare Us to Death.

I was part of the movement in the 1970s to stop runaway manmade pollution that was destroying our planet. We have made great strides thanks to breakthroughs in science like nuclear power, hydroelectric power, and other energy sources that do not cause our skies to turn brown.

Let’s keep a clear head before we rush into another scare that only the rich Eco-Elites can afford.

I own a cherry orchard and teach Advanced Placement American Government here at the local high school. I teach my kids to look into both sides of the debate.

Final thought on global warming: Why is Mars heating up at the same extrapolated rate as the Earth, as we speak? Any relatives on Mars?
