The Mid-Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Convention is coming up at the end of this month, scheduled for January 29-31 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The annual event draws more than 2,200 fruit and vegetable growers. It’s sponsored by the State Horticultural Association of Pennsylvania and producer associations from New Jersey and Maryland.

The convention is organized around concurrent educational sessions appealing to different specialty crops’ producers, with some general sessions as well.

The keynote speaker this year is Jeff Manning, a marketing consultant whose main claim to fame was creating the Got Milk? promotion campaign that began in 1993. Since then he has had, as a major client, the Cherry Marketing Institute working to promote the “superfruit” image of red tart cherries.
