The Washington Apple Education Foundation announced in a news release the opening of its annual Year of the Apple Art Contest. High school students in Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant, Benton, Franklin, Kittitas, Yakima and Walla Walla counties are invited to submit entries by May 1. 

The Washington apple-themed contest will grant three cash prizes: first place $1,000, second place $500 and third place $250. The first-place winner’s artwork will also be reproduced on a poster-sized calendar. In addition to student prizes, a $150 Amazon gift card will be awarded to each winner’s art teacher to use for classroom art supplies.
