Laura Ramirez won the grand prize in the Year of the Apple Art Contest with this painting, “Beautiful Apples.”

Laura Ramirez, 18, of Sunnyside, Washington, was the grand-prize winner in the Washington Apple Education Foundation’s Year of the Apple Art Contest. She received a prize of $750, and her painting, entitled “Beautiful Apples,” will be featured in the 2015 Dow AgroSciences wall calendar.

Other prize winners were Rian Parker of Kennewick; Megan Chen of Moses Lake; Anayit Lupercio and Briana Morales of Sunnyside; Breann Kniffen of East Wenatchee; and Greta Enloe of Leavenworth. Go to www.waef.org to see the winning entries.
