Oregon and Washington processed pear committee positions are open for election. The three committee positions in each state will be elected in public meetings in Yakima, Washington on February 26 and in Hood River, Oregon on March 10, 2015.  Keep up to date with tree fruit and grape events, and meetings in our calendar.

PROCESSED PEAR COMMITTEE – OREGON POSITIONS UP FOR ELECTION
YAKIMA, WA — Oregon positions on the Processed Pear Committee will be up for election during a public meeting slated for March 2015, according to B.J. Thurlby, Manager, as follows:

3/10/15 Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers Association – Handler annual meeting, 12:00 noon, Grace Su’s China Gorge, 2680 Old Columbia River Dr., Hood River, OR

Oregon Handler Positions:
Member position currently held by Gary Wells
First Alternate position currently held by Rob Peterson
Second Alternate position currently held by Jason Moore

Oregon Positions to the Processed Pear Committee are each 2-year terms beginning July 1, 2015, and expiring June 30, 2017. The PPC encourages women, minorities, and the physically challenged, who qualify to attend and participate in the election proceedings.

The Processed Pear Committee was established to administer federal marketing order provisions relating to the handling of pears for processing.
