The first public demonstration of a virtual reality operated vineyard robot will take place during the FutureFarm Expo August 15-16 in Pendleton, Oregon.

The robot was developed by Digital Harvest of Virginia, who recently established a research facility in Pendleton.

The robot, called the Remote Operated Vineyard Robot, or ROVR, bypasses many of the technical challenges presented by machine learning by keeping a human involved in the process through virtual reality.

The FutureFarm Expo is the annual technology summit of the Oregon FutureFarm Project, a farm tech accelerator that has helped bring digital agriculture developers such as Digital Harvest and Yamaha Unmanned Systems to eastern Oregon.

The expo also features a trade show, group lunches and outdoor field demonstrations.
