WSU Extension is offering free soil health testing to a limited number of growers in Eastern Washington.

The test will evaluate several aspects of soil organic matter, which is important because it improves water uptake and storage, boosts soil biology, makes fertilizers work better and promotes crop yield.

To qualify for up to two free tests per grower, soils must be producing one of the following crops:

• Apples

• Cherries

• Grapes

• Blueberries

• Onions

• Potatoes

• Mint

Contact Andrew McGuire by email at andrew.mcguire@wsu.edu or by text message at 509-237-2115 with the following information:

• Name

• Phone number

• Nearest town

• Crop produced on this soil (not necessarily this year)

• Any soil-building practice used (cover crops, amendments or reduced tillage)

Growers will be selected based on time of request, crop and location.
